History of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) – Weija Gbawe Constituency
Overview
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Weija Gbawe Constituency has established itself as one of the most active grassroots political organizations in the Greater Accra Region. Guided by the party's principles of social justice, accountability, unity, and inclusive development, the constituency continues to mobilize supporters, empower local communities, and contribute to the growth of democratic governance.
Although the Weija Gbawe Constituency officially came into existence ahead of the 2012 General Elections, the NDC's presence in the area dates back many years when the communities formed part of the former Weija Constituency. The creation of the new constituency marked the beginning of a new chapter, allowing the party to strengthen its local structures and expand grassroots participation.
The Early Years (2000–2011)
Before the Electoral Commission created the Weija Gbawe Constituency, communities such as Weija, Gbawe, Tetegu, Mallam, Oblogo, and New Gbawe belonged to the former Weija Constituency.
